Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami

Susan Te Kahurangi King

Ida Applebroog

I thought both artists were really interesting and great. I loved Susan's collection. Her main focus was Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny and I noticed that her main mediums were crayons, pastel and graphite. I think I had more of a connection with Susan because of her character focus and the shapes and forms she uses. Something I found interesting was how she took those characters and yet made it her own in her own unique way. Her work can be colorful and dark as well.

I loved Ida's work too. She was very creative even though some of her work confused me. I didn't really understand most of her work, but I thought she was very inspiring with the booklets. I loved how she used the watercolor and ink as a combination. I thought all of her work was amazing, but the ones with the watercolor were my favorite, they were pretty cool. The pictures that I chose for this post were my favorite of each artist.
