‘’The White Bird’’ by John Berger
The white bird is a form of art, it can be defined by nature, religion, aesthetics, beauty, emotions and irony. Something so simplistic and yet has so much meaning behind it. I feel the author was trying to show different ways of what the white bird signifies and what art means to him. I believe that John Berger is correct when he says “ Art sets out to transform the potential recognition into an unceasing one”, I think its so true thats the irony part. For example, the bird its not just a bird, its more than a bird.
There are so many meanings that someone can get out of art work, as well as feelings. I also noticed there is a comparison between art, nature and beauty. For example, “ Under the fallen boulder of an avalanche a flower grows”. The author said something about “what a given community finds beautiful in nature will depend on its geography and economy” which I think is so true. People in america might find the animals in Africa fascinating and the people in Africa might be tired of them and not find them fascinating.
