What is Comics Poetry? reading response

Alexander Rothman is a cartoonist and poet and he creates and publishes comics poetry. He says poetry is language or words. They show meaning, sound, feeling. Comics is an image. Something that caught my attention about what he said which is a fact, is that we place 2 images side by side and we some how connect them. Comics and Poetry are both supported with the foundation of juxtaposition. They can be so close together and have an effect on us, which is pretty interesting. Comics can also be seen as a visual language which connects comics and poetry.

Also in comics there doesn't have to be more than one panel in order to understand the meaning as long as it has an image and text which is our small work due Tuesday. It can be arranged in order or in any other arrangement. He asked us What is Comics Poetry? well, he said it is work that draws upon feelings from visual language. Image and words like he said are only doing there job if they affect each other. He also mentioned criticism which reminded of class critique. He says not to be negative about it, be open and different. I like how he says art is a practice that connects to the world. Work always has a concept, we have to slow down and pay attention and it makes us think harder.
